Inspired by daily life with her two children, Leslie Patricelli's trio of books, Yummy YUCKY, BIG Little,
and Quiet LOUD, are a great way to introduce toddlers to opposites.
"Spaghetti is yummy. Worms are yucky." "Heads are big. Toes are little." "Whispering is quiet.
Screaming is loud." Each book starts with an opposite pair to which toddlers can relate and continues that pattern until the end.
The last two pages of each book are devoted to "more yummy/yucky/big/little/quiet/loud things." These final pages are a lot of fun
and the variety of objects they contain is sure to stimulate toddlers to come up with even more things on their own.
The illustrations are bright, colorful and charmingly childlike. Painted with acrylics and a dose of humor, the pictures
feature a diaper-clad baby demonstrating each opposite pair with enthusiasm.
Toddlers will have a great time learning about opposites through the engaging text and illustrations of Yummy YUCKY, BIG Little,
