Review by Sherri Allen:
Has the conversation at your dinner table become a repeating chorus of "use your napkin," "don't talk with food in your mouth," or "sit up straight?" You need Table Manners, the latest DVD in the Time for Manners series created by etiquette expert and educator Holly Beth Moncher.
Puppets are the teachers in this light-hearted approach to teaching children table manners. Puppet twins Tara and Tyler, along with their friends Wesley and Merlin Manners, sit down together for a meal. They teach each other how to behave at mealtime, doing things like properly holding their utensils, waiting until everyone is served, and using their napkins. They also explain to each other why it's important to use good table manners.
With its charming puppets, storylike plot and catchy songs, Table Time is both entertaining and educational. Your children will enjoy watching it, causing them to pay attention and learn to behave like their "friends." It works; at dinner the other day, my 3-year old told me, "Mommy, I have to keep my mouth closed like Tara, not show my food like Tyler." And she did!
